FULL LIST: Award winners at WAFCON 2026

On Sunday, the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon achieved a historic milestone by clinching their first-ever Women's Africa Cup of Nations title in Rabat. They emerged victorious over Malawi with a score of 3-0, thanks to a pair of goals from Ngah Manga and another from 21-year-old midfielder Naomi Eto. This marks a significant achievement for Cameroon, who had previously lost four Women's Africa Cup of Nations finals in 1991, 2004, 2014, and 2016, making them the fourth nation to claim the continental title after Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and South Africa.

The Scorchers' impressive journey to the final was largely driven by the exceptional performances of sisters Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga. However, despite their efforts, the duo did not secure the championship trophy. Nonetheless, Cameroon's team qualifed for their first-ever World Cup and reached their first-ever Women's Africa Cup of Nations final. The champions will join Malawi, Algeria, and Morocco at the 2027 Women's FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Temwa Chawinga of Malawi won the Golden Boot Award with five goals, while Monique Ngock of Cameroon was named Woman of the Competition. Cameroon's goalkeeper, Michaely Bihina, was recognized as the Best Goalkeeper. The Fair Play Award was given to Algeria.
