Franklin Cudjoe urges Lands Minister to reassess revocation of Adamus Resources license

Franklin Cudjoe, President of Imani Africa, has strongly criticized the withdrawal of Adamus Mining License and urged the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, to reconsider the Minerals Commission's handling of the company. While recognizing the minister's efforts in combating illegal mining, Cudjoe expressed worry that the Adamus situation could undermine those efforts.

He praised the minister for reversing the takeover of portions of Achimota Forest but stressed that more must be done to protect the legitimacy of mining operations. Cudjoe contended that Adamus was denied proper procedures under the Minerals and Mining Act before the revocation of its mining leases, claiming the accusations were fabricated in just three days without following Act 703's rules.

He further lambasted the decision to appoint an Interim Management Committee to oversee the company's operations, alleging that the Minerals Commission rushed to seize Adamus and install an incompetent committee. Cudjoe directly appealed to the minister to disassociate himself from the decision, stating that the Minerals Commission's actions have handed him a poisoned chalice, virtually stealing assets from a globally renowned mining company.

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has faced backlash from Civil Society Organizations since the revocation of the Adamus Mining license, who have all described the action as high-handed and arbitrary.
