Disney’s Millennium Falcon Ride Activates Fortnite In-Game Rewards

First announced at the D23 convention in Anaheim, California, Disney’s Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride now entices players of Fortnite with exclusive in-game rewards. By utilizing the official Disneyland applications while waiting in line for the ride, guests can undertake a special mission that yields crates for their Fortnite accounts.

These crates unlock exclusive rewards on a new custom Star Wars island within the game, known as Smugglers Gambit. Sean Shoptaw, EVP of Disney Games and Digital Entertainment, expressed their ambition to connect stories and worlds across various formats into an integrated entertainment ecosystem. This ride, which debuted at Disneyland and Disney World in 2019, allows six individuals to ride inside a replica of Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon, with each person assigned a role such as pilot, gunner, or engineer.

The ride, built using Unreal Engine 5 and developed by Walt Disney Imagineering and Industrial Light & Magic, features a flight simulation experience set in various Star Wars scenarios, including recent Mandalorian-themed missions. Epic Games President Adam Sussman stated that Disney’s Imagineers are pioneering the future of interactive entertainment by bringing such experiences from the physical world into Fortnite.

To claim these rewards in Fortnite, players must link their MyDisney account with their Epic Games account either via the Disneyland app or My Disney Experience app. James Waugh, Senior Vice President, Franchise Story & Creative Strategy, Lucasfilm, noted that this tie-in exemplifies the seamless flow of stories across screens, theme park rides, and games.

This milestone follows the Star Wars IP Toolkit’s launch in Fortnite and its role in drawing 8 million players within the first 72 hours.
