President Abelardo de la Espriella's recent meeting with US President Donald Trump received positive attention, with the American leader supporting de la Espriella's candidacy.

De la Espriella has lobbied for a temporary suspension of US tariffs imposed at the end of July to alleviate the economic hardships faced by businesses due to the earthquake. The restoration process in cities like Cali, Pereira, and Manizales, which suffered from over 14,000 collapsed homes, will be a costly endeavor.
