Cannon, Navarro score in second half to back Hansen as Rapids top Sporting KC 2-0

Cannon's goal marked his fourth in 111 appearances and was his first header of the season. Maziz entered the game in the 56th minute and provided crucial support. In stoppage time, Nico Hansen's teammate, Nicol Navarro, scored the winning goal, his tenth of the campaign, following Sporting KC's defender Moisés Mosquera’s red card in the fifth minute. Navarro finished with a goal assisted by Paxten Aaronson, who had six career assists this season after only 44 appearances without a single assist.

Sporting KC's Moisés Mosquera was shown two yellow cards within a four-minute span. Last time out, Navarro scored a crucial penalty kick to lead Colorado to a 1-0 win over visiting Austin FC. Paxten Aaronson had previously scored twice in the Rapids 4-1 road win over Sporting KC in March. Stefan Cleveland made two saves in his 10th starting appearance for Sporting KC (4-13-2).

Sporting KC has been outscored by seven goals in losing five of its last six matches. The club also beat the Rapids twice last year. In upcoming matches, Kansas City will host St. Louis City on Wednesday, while Colorado will face Los Angeles FC on the same day.
