Balmoral, Stamina launch boxing academy in Nigeria

Balmoral Promotions and Stamina For Sale have teamed up to launch the Stamina High Performance Academy in Nigeria, a new venture aimed at discovering and nurturing the next wave of boxing talent in the country, according to PUNCH Sports Extra. The academy will simultaneously kick off operations in Lagos and Akwa Ibom, merging Stamina's esteemed boxing expertise from the United Kingdom with Balmoral's Nigerian boxing and promotional network.

Tunde Ajayi, the founder of Stamina For Sale, expressed optimism about Nigeria's vast potential in the sport. He highlighted the need to capitalize on this talent, stating that the academy's primary goal is to identify such talent, nurture it effectively, and establish a pathway for athletes aiming to reach the zenith of boxing.

Ajayi, known for his high-performance fighter development in the UK, has worked with renowned boxers such as Anthony Yarde, Joel Kodua, Daniel Dubois, Adam Azim, Danny Williams, and Harry Simon. His renowned System9 approach to training and performance has seen Yarde elevate from an amateur to a world-class professional.

Speaking on the academy's launch in Lagos and Akwa Ibom, Ajayi emphasized the importance of building a sustainable program that can grow over time and forge a strong link between Nigerian talent and high-performance boxing in the UK and globally. Dr Ezekiel Adamu, a representative from Balmoral Promotions, echoed similar sentiments, stressing Nigeria's burgeoning boxing talent and passion for the sport.

He emphasized the need to create more opportunities for these talents to be identified, developed, and showcased, highlighting the academy's launch as a significant step forward. Further specifics regarding the academy’s initial talent trials in Lagos and Akwa Ibom are expected to be unveiled shortly.
