Auger-Aliassime returns from injury with win over Tsitsipas in Cincinnati

Montreal's Félix Auger-Aliassime made a triumphant return to the tennis court, defeating Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas in a hard-fought 6-3, 7-5 victory at the Cincinnati Open on Sunday. The 26-year-old Canadian was seeded second for the Masters-level event, but faced challenges with the wind during the second set and dropped the serve on match point.

However, Auger-Aliassime rebounded in the following game and sealed the win with his seventh ace as the clock struck match point. This marked Auger-Aliassime's fourth victory over Tsitsipas in 11 encounters. The Canadian had previously withdrawn from the National Bank Open in his hometown due to a back injury, but managed to compete in the Cincinnati Open.

In women's matches later that day, 30th seed Leylah Fernandez of Laval, Que., will take on China's Wang Xiyu.
