Aston Villa launch move for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki after PSG transfer collapses

Aston Villa have initiated a pursuit for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki after their bid for Paris Saint-Germain failed. According to The Athletic, the Villa Park club is ready to allocate a fee of approximately £25 million for the 23-year-old Japanese international. Initial reports suggest that PSG and Parma had an agreement for the transfer, but it ultimately fell through.

Villa's list of targets also includes RC Lens forward Robin Risser. The club is in urgent need of a replacement for their goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who has expressed a desire to leave the club this summer. Concurrently, Villa are exploring the possibility of signing Argentine international midfielder Jesus Godoy from Juventus, which has led to the resumption of talks with the Serie A giants.

The move for Suzuki comes as a necessary step to address Villa's goalkeeper situation, as Martinez's wish to depart the club has been ongoing for over a year. Suzuki is regarded as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in Europe, having made an impact during his time at Parma over the past two seasons.
