Anwar moves to cut red tape as govt faces calls to make business easier

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has directed the Malaysian government to streamline bureaucratic red tape and enhance business conditions by reviewing e-Invoicing, e-commerce regulations, and social protection for gig workers. This move comes in response to numerous complaints from entrepreneurs about lengthy dealings at land offices and difficulties adapting to digital systems.

Anwar emphasized the importance of simplifying e-Invoicing and addressing issues related to e-commerce and government bureaucracy. He stated that bureaucratic hurdles must be eliminated so entrepreneurs can focus on business growth rather than navigating complex government procedures. Additionally, the government will review an appropriate rate for welfare provisions for gig workers, aiming to offer adequate protection while considering the unique nature of this type of employment.

This initiative is part of the Malaysian government's broader strategy to improve the country's ease of doing business by reducing administrative obstacles, digitizing public services, and making regulatory frameworks more responsive to business needs.
