모스크바엔 드론 600대, 키이우엔 미사일…러-우 밤새 난타전

In a night of intense conflict between Russia and Ukraine, both nations launched large-scale missile and drone attacks on each other's capitals. According to DPA news agency, Russia claimed that Ukraine deployed over 600 drones in an attack targeting Moscow the previous night, which it deemed the largest in scale. Russian Deputy Mayor Andrei Borkoviy assessed the attack as the most significant to date, with Russian drones crashing into a warehouse, causing 83-year-old man to die and several people to suffer injuries in Moscow.

The Russian city authorities reported that 7 people died due to Russian missile strikes across the country. Moscow's mayor Sergei Sobyanin informed that 201 drones were destroyed by the city's air defense system, most of which were intercepted before reaching Moscow. Around 40 km away in Poltava, three people were injured in a blast.

Russian authorities reported a warehouse fire at Wildberries, Russia's largest online shopping mall, but employees evacuated in time. In Kolodiye, near Moscow, a Wildberries warehouse received extensive damage, with a massive plume of smoke captured in a Reuters photo. Ukraine has been targeting economic infrastructure supporting Russia's military operations in recent weeks, including this company.

A drone attack in the vicinity of Belgorod, near Ukraine's border with Russia, resulted in one death. Ukraine's military reported targeting Russia's missile fuel production facility in the city of Rostov-on-Don. Russia did not comment on this report. Russia also launched missile attacks on Ukraine's capital Kyiv. Kyiv's mayor Vitali Klitschko warned residents to seek shelter as explosions were heard in the city, with emergency shelters being set up.

Wildberries, Ukraine's largest shopping mall, caught fire, and 8 people died across Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense shot down a drone targeting President Volodymyr Zelensky's hometown, Chernihiv, as well as a target in the industrial city of Kriukivka. Romania, bordering Ukraine, intercepted a NATO F-18 fighter jet that crossed its airspace, with the NATO spokesperson identifying it as a Russian drone.

Recently, Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine, recently striking Ukraine's largest grain export port near the Danube River near Romania. Ukraine has also intensified its attacks on targets in Russia, including a major Ukrainian oil refinery in Crimea.
