6 suspected measles deaths in 24 hours, combined toll rises to 908

In a tragic 24-hour span, six individuals succumbed to measles-like symptoms, worsening the country's cumulative tally of measles-related deaths to 908 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The six recent fatalities have been classified as suspected measles deaths, raising the total number of suspected measles deaths to 809, while confirmed deaths from the disease remain at 99.

Over the same 24-hour period, health authorities documented 1,021 new suspected measles cases, bringing the nationwide cumulative total of suspected cases to 142,797. Simultaneously, 80 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, increasing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 17,880. Since March 15, a total of 124,457 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalized across the country, with 119,939 of them recovering, as per DGHS data.
