Yoshinobu Yamamoto helps the Dodgers beat the NL-leading Brewers 3-1

Los Angeles Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto struck out nine batters in six innings, helping the team secure a 3-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. The win brought the Dodgers back within a game of the NL-leading Brewers. The victory was part of the second game of a four-game series, following a 5-4 Brewers win in the opener on Friday.

Yamamoto allowed just one run on four hits, achieving his third shutout strikeout of the season. Edwin Diaz closed out the game as a save after taking the loss in Thursday's ninth inning. Robert Gasser surrendered three runs to the Dodgers over 6 1/3 innings for the Brewers. Joey Ortiz contributed an RBI for Milwaukee. The Dodgers took the opening lead in the first inning with three consecutive singles, scoring the first run on a hit by Mookie Betts.

The Brewers tied the game in the fifth inning when Joey Ortiz's fly ball drove in Luis Lara from third base. The Dodgers took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Andy Pages hit a home run, his 20th of the season. Pages extended the Dodgers' advantage to 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth with another home run. Edwin Diaz drove in the only run of the ninth inning with a single, but Joey Ortiz grounded out to complete the game.
