White Sox beat Tigers 9-5 as Miguel Vargas homers twice

DETROIT (AP) — Miguel Vargas hit two home runs, Tristan Peters and Munetaka Murakami each had a homer, and the Chicago White Sox defeated the Detroit Tigers 9-5 on Friday night. This was the first annual payment, billed at $205.00 plus GST for one year, which automatically renews at $233.00 plus GST every 52 weeks. The White Sox extended their lead in the AL Central to 3 1/2 games.

Peters and Braden Montgomery contributed with three hits each. Montgomery scored the White Sox's first run with an RBI single in the first inning. Peters tied the game in the fourth with his seventh home run of the season, Murakami added a solo shot in the sixth, and Montgomery drove in two more runs in the seventh to secure the victory.

Miguel Vargas closed out the game with his second homer in the eighth. Sean Newcomb started strong with 1 1/3 hitless innings, and José Urquidy (1-1) pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief for the win, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out three. The Tigers were led by Ben Malgeri with his first career multi-homer game and Gleyber Torres and Eduardo Valencia with two hits each.
