Weather update: Here’s what to expect on Sunday

Weather forecast for Sunday, 16 August, indicates warm and fine conditions across most of South Africa, with the exception of three provinces experiencing extremely high fire danger. The South African Weather Service (Saws) has not issued any impact-based warnings or advisories for the day. Here's what to expect in each province:

Gauteng will have fine and cool weather with a moderate UVB sunburn index.

Mpumalanga and Limpopo will also see fine and cool conditions.

The Northern Cape will have morning fog patches along the coast, but otherwise, expect fine and cool to warm weather with moderate to fresh south-easterly winds.

In the Western Cape, morning fog patches are anticipated along the west coast and southeastern parts, resulting in fine and cool to warm weather, and partly cloudy skies in the south-west. Wind speeds will vary from moderate easterly to north-westerly along the west coast and moderate to fresh north-easterly along the south coast.

The Eastern Cape is split into two halves. The western half will have fine and warm conditions, while the eastern half will also be fine and warm with light to moderate north-easterly winds along the coast.

KwaZulu-Natal will experience partly cloudy skies with morning fog in the extreme north-east, leading to fine and cool to warm weather. Along the coast, winds will be light and variable initially, transitioning to light to moderate northerly to north-easterly. By evening, winds will reach fresh speeds at times south of Richards Bay.

The UVB sunburn index is expected to be low in KwaZulu-Natal.
