Vikings' Jamal Adams becomes latest victim of MetLife Stadium turf

All summer, soccer teams practiced on a grass field at MetLife Stadium during the World Cup. When the NFL returned to that same artificial turf for the preseason, Minnesota Vikings linebacker Jamal Adams sustained a knee injury. Head coach Kevin O Connell described the injury as "not good." The incident occurred during a second-and-12 play where Adams was pursuing Giants wide receiver Calvin Austin.

Adams stumbled and fell forward, grabbing his knee before rolling onto his back. He immediately sought medical attention in the Vikings' blue tent, and was later taken to the locker room. Adams, who previously played as a safety for the Jets and Raiders, had a strong 2024 season with the Raiders, recording 45 tackles, five tackles for a loss, a forced fumble and a sack.

The team has not yet released an official update on his injury status and has scheduled him for an MRI to assess the extent of his injury.
