Uphold national unity, build a stronger India for future generations: Rudrappa Lamani

Rudrappa Lamani, the Sugar and Textiles Minister and Haveri district in-charge Minister, addressed the 80th Independence Day celebrations in Haveri, emphasizing the importance of upholding national unity and building a stronger India for future generations. He reminded the audience that the freedom enjoyed by Indians was the result of the sacrifices made by millions during the freedom struggle, led by notable figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Lamani highlighted the diverse contributions of various freedom fighters, including women like Kittur Chennamma, Rani Lakshmibai, and Keladi Chennamma, as well as the role of Haveri district in the movement. He praised the State government's achievements, particularly the five guarantee schemes that had benefited a large number of families and the implementation of direct recruitment for 54,432 vacant posts.

The government had also distributed title deeds under the Bhoomi Guarantee scheme and invested in various agriculture initiatives to support farmers.

In Haveri district, 3.17 lakh hectares were sown during the kharif season, with 1.41 lakh tonnes of fertilizer allocated, and a 50-bed intensive care unit and MRI scanner installed at the district hospital. Additionally, 10,161 girls received HPV vaccines, and 20 multi-village drinking water schemes were initiated to supply treated river water to 726 habitations. The celebrations featured the felicitations of 27 achievers, meritorious SSLC and PUC students, and a march-past by 14 contingents.
