[UPDATED] Anwar to PKR leaders: Being in power does not mean you are the best

AYER KEROH: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim cautioned party leaders on Saturday that their government positions did not automatically make them superior to others. He urged them to reconnect with the people's grievances by returning to the grassroots level. Anwar highlighted that despite holding ministerial and deputy minister roles, party leaders should not consider themselves the best.

He emphasized that leaders must listen with the intent to change and adjust, rather than merely preparing to respond or argue when faced with the government's achievements. Anwar stressed that party leaders needed to understand the concerns and frustrations of ordinary Malaysians. He acknowledged that the government had achieved positive economic performance and garnered international recognition, but these successes did not guarantee public support.

Anwar pointed out that PKR itself must accept responsibility for the shortcomings in communicating the government's accomplishments and addressing voter concerns, rather than blaming external factors like race or regional differences. He urged the party leaders to practice accountability and avoid attributing declining support to any specific demographic group, instead focusing on identifying and addressing their own weaknesses.
