Tamil Nadu Villager Becomes Overnight Celebrity After Helping Mammootty Find Way Near Sivaganga

On Friday night, a Tamil Nadu villager named Pandian from Tiruppathur in Sivaganga district gained overnight celebrity status after helping renowned Malayalam film actor Mammootty find his way. Mammootty, who was returning from a shoot in Karaikudi, had become lost near a remote area in Tiruppathur as the highway was blocked and Google Maps had taken them down a wrong route. It was around 3:30 am when Mammootty stopped at a petrol bunk and asked for directions, but no one could assist him.

A villager named Pandian, who happened to be sleeping at the petrol bunk, woke up and asked the driver where they wished to go. They wanted to go to Madurai. Pandian, explaining the directions, became frustrated when Mammootty and his driver struggled to follow. Pandian then offered to accompany the actor himself on his bike. He agreed to lead Mammootty for 10 kilometers before they could take the Madurai highway.

Upon arriving at the highway, Mammootty got out of the car, wearing a shirt and dhoti, and asked the driver to take a picture with Pandian. He called him "my friend" and the video of this act of kindness went viral on social media. Pandian expressed his pride and humility at being called a friend by such a superstar, and added that he felt honored to have been part of this moment.

He recounted that he only heard Mammootty's voice initially, but could not see him as the light inside the car was switched off. Only after reaching the highway did he ask him if he was the actor, to which Mammootty confirmed and proceeded to hug and call him "my friend".
