The Democratic Party's 8·17 Central Committee is set to release the results of the Seoul and Gyeonggi province round-trip election on the evening of day 16. There are predictions that Kim Min-seok, the leading candidate, might flip his support to his rival, Chung Kyung-ha, as a majority of 38% of party members lean towards him. The Democratic Party is holding a joint meeting in Gyeonggi's Sunwoom Sports Complex after the regional round-trip elections, followed by another joint meeting in Seoul's Kintex.

The results from both regional round-trip elections, including the percentages of 1st place votes and top nominee votes, will be unveiled at 6 pm tonight. The Democratic Party conducted online voting on December 12-13 and ARS voting on December 14-15. Kim Min-seok won with 57.54%, a 24.90% margin over Chung Kyung-ha's 32.65%, and a distant third, Song Young-gil with 9.81%.

Kim Min-seok's accumulated vote share stands at 52.21%, while Chung Kyung-ha is at 38.14%. Kim Min-seok's victory is attributed to the additional 14.07% in the overall vote share from the other regions. The vote share in Seoul and Gyeonggi is expected to be 10 percentage points higher than in the other regions. The top 5 nominees for the vote are currently Kim Seon-won, Kim Min-hui, Seo Mi-hwa, Kim Yong, and Kim Min-su.

However, the weights of votes from Daegu, Gyeonggi, and Gyeongsangnam-do are not included in these numbers. The Democratic Party will conclude the round-trip elections in Seoul and Gyeonggi and finalize the overall results after the national round-trip election on 17th day, combining 70% from party members' votes and 30% from nationwide opinion surveys.
