‘Sent parents to heaven’: Kerala man arrested for stabbing parents; had history of drug, alcohol abuse

In Kerala, India, a man in his late 20s has been arrested for allegedly stabbing to death his parents, according to police reports. The incident occurred at the couple's residence in Ezhukumvayal, Idukki district, on the evening of Friday.

Ajeesh, 29, admitted to the crime stating that he sent his parents to "heaven" after receiving a "call from God", police said. The suspect has a history of drug and alcohol abuse, and had previously completed a de-addiction program, the police added.

Following the attack, Ajeesh recorded a video of his injured parents and sent it to a relative. The relative then alerted the parish priest and neighbors, who promptly rushed to the house and discovered the bodies of the victimized parents, aged 59 and 55, respectively. Despite the gruesome crime, police noted that Ajeesh did not harm his grandmother, who was also present at the scene.

Upon his arrest, Ajeesh was taken to the house for evidence collection. He inquired about his mother upon his arrival, according to police. The murder case was registered, and Ajeesh was produced before a court, who subsequently remanded him into judicial custody.

The funeral proceedings will proceed once Ajeesh's brother returns from abroad.
