Reported Flamingo missiles target industrial area in Russia’s Samara

An overnight attack in Samara, Russia, caused a fire at an industrial facility, which may be operated by either the Aviakor aircraft plant or the Progress Rocket Space Center, according to OSINT analysts. The incident occurred on August 14-15, and local residents shared footage of explosions and thick smoke columns. Crimean Wind reported that Flamingo missiles were used in the attack.

Denis Shtilerman, chief designer and co-owner of Ukrainian defense company Fire Point, also posted footage of a missile launch. Based on images and videos shared by Exilenova+, an Astra OSINT analyst determined the explosion's location to an industrial site in Samara. The burning facility might belong to either the Aviakor aviation plant or the Progress Rocket Space Center, whose production sites are in the vicinity.

Progress belongs to Russia's Roscosmos corporation and focuses on Soyuz-2 launch vehicle development and spacecraft testing. Aviakor is a major Russian aviation enterprise involved in aircraft manufacturing, repairs, and component production. Samara Oblast has been targeted in previous Ukrainian attacks, including a drone strike on Syzran overnight on August 7-8, which damaged an oil refinery and caused a large fire.
