RCI TH: CEO syarikat kapal antara 7 ditahan SPRM

Pasar Malaysia's anti-corruption bureau, SPRM, detained seven individuals, including the CEO of a shipping firm, Datuk, on Friday. The CEO, aged 60, was held for allegedly submitting falsified documents when making payments to TH, involving falsified contracts for a petroleum company under his ownership. Two other company executives, also aged 60, were detained for allegedly bribing TH employees to invest in a construction firm, promising the firm's listing on the Stock Exchange.

The four former TH executives, aged between 50 and 60, including one Datuk Seri and one woman, were detained for suspected corruption. This led TH to enter into a bribery agreement with a Saudi Arabian company worth SR2.49 billion (RM2.72 billion), causing TH a loss. According to The Star, only the CEO and the construction company CEO, both Datuks, were arrested, while five others were released on SPRM bail due to health concerns.

The rest were remanded for five days until August 19 following an order from Judge Ahmad Afiq Hasan of the Putrajaya High Court. This detention is a follow-up to the SPRM's investigation into the RCI TH report, released on July 29 via the Ministry of Islamic Development Malaysia's official website. SPRM Chief, Abd Halim Aman, confirmed the arrests, and the case is being investigated under Sections 18 and 16(a)(A) of the SPRM Act 2009.

The 252-page RCI report, covering TH's management and operations from 2014 to 2020, was released on July 29 and highlighted 25 areas for improvement. The arrest warrants, according to The Star, were issued on the same day and followed the RCI TH report.
