Probe team obtains Mir Raza’s phone, smartwatch from NCCIA for forensic analysis

The ongoing investigation into the death of Mir Raza, a young businessman from Karachi, has seen notable developments. A newly formed team has obtained his mobile phone and smartwatch from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for forensic analysis. The devices will be sent to Lahore for examination after the family expressed concerns about NCCIA analyzing them.

Additional evidence was also recovered from the crime scene, according to Aaj News. Meanwhile, a Karachi court has granted interim bail to Mir Raza's business partner, Muhammad Ahmed, who had sought pre-arrest bail due to concerns over potential arrest. Ahmed's lawyer claimed that his client was facing harassment from the police and had been summoned to the crime scene instead of the police station.

However, Mir Raza's family's lawyer rejected these allegations, stating that only individuals were questioned and that around 35 witnesses had been interrogated so far. The court ordered Ahmed to participate in the investigation and barred him from leaving the city during the probe. The investigating officer emphasized the urgency of obtaining Mir Raza's SIM card to advance the investigation and collect key evidence.

The magistrate allowed additional time for compiling medical and investigation reports. The family has called for a transparent investigation, and Mir Raza's father has expressed his desire for justice, noting that his son was set to marry on August 30.
