PM Modi unveils 'Sapta Dhara' for 'Viksit Bharat': What is his seven-point roadmap

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled "Sapta Dhara," a seven-point reform framework, on India's 80th Independence Day. Addressing the nation from the Red Fort, Modi recalled the era of the seven rivers, the Sapta Sindhu, and declared that India needs new streams of strength to build a developed India. He outlined the seven areas of focus for the next 5-7 years to achieve Viksit Bharat by 2047.

The first strength is manufacturing power, with the need to strengthen the manufacturing sector and establish India as a trusted global supply chain partner. India must meet global standards of cost, quality, and scale, while factories should produce user-friendly products with attractive packaging. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining trust and quality in the global market.

The second stream focuses on agriculture and food processing, urging Indian farmers to access global markets. The world's markets are now open for Indian farmers, and they must reach the export market by adhering to international parameters. Traditional Indian cuisine, millets, spices, fruits, and flowers, as well as chemical-free agricultural produce, could become global brands.

The third stream is technology and innovation, with India aiming to become an innovation hub for emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, quantum technology, space, robotics, and data centers. India must lead in next-generation communication technology, with Made in India 6G reaching every corner of the world.

The fourth strength, Gati Shakti, emphasizes seamless and high-speed connectivity, including high-speed rail and port-led development to transform ports into engines of growth.

The fifth strength is defense power, with India needing to become a global supplier of next-generation defense technologies. India must take leadership in hypersonic defense technologies, drones, counter-drone systems, and cyber security.

The sixth stream is the green and blue economy, which will create green jobs. India must operate at a global scale in green hydrogen, renewable energy, energy storage, green mobility, and green manufacturing while addressing global challenges. The seventh stream is India's soft power, with yoga, faith and spiritual centers, Ayurveda, holistic healthcare, handicrafts, culture, films, VFX, animation, gaming, and digital content contributing to India's global strength.
