#OsunDecides2026: They fled with money in polythene bags, voters claim inducement

Voters in Osun State’s Ejigbo Local Government Area claimed that supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were distributing cash to them during Saturday’s governorship election. The incident was captured on video at Ward 4, Unit 7, where voters confronted individuals accused of sharing money at the polling station. The alleged cash distribution took place around 9:30 a.m., and another similar allegation was made at Ward 4, Unit 13, around 10:30 a.m. One voter in the video mentioned that the accused individuals fled the area with some of the cash in polythene bags.

"We don’t know how much was there. They ran away and used a polythene bag to take the money away," the voter stated. The voter also noted that the alleged cash distribution violated guidelines against giving money to anyone at polling units. "The rule given to us was that we should not give money to anyone. We did not cause any trouble; we were only running after them," the voter added.

Some voters displayed recovered cash and a card they identified as belonging to the APC, which they believed was used to distribute the money. The incident allegedly occurred at a polling unit linked to Najeem Salaam, also known as Iwaloye, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). However, the voters said those caught distributing the money were linked to the APC.

"We are talking about Iwaloye, the ADC candidate. At his unit, APC members are sharing money. It happened at about 9:30 a.m. in Unit 7 and 10:30 a.m. in Unit 13," one of the voters alleged. The allegations have not been independently verified, and there was no immediate response from the APC as of the time of filing this report.
