OIC warns of ‘grave risks’ posed by Israel’s West Bank policies

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed serious concerns over Israel's intentions to annex West Bank territories. In a recent statement, the 57-nation body highlighted the "grave risks" associated with these moves. The OIC firmly maintains that Israeli settlements and associated policies are "illegal" and in blatant contravention of international law.

Drawing from the International Court of Justice's Advisory Opinion, the OIC asserts that all actions stemming from these policies constitute "flagrant violations" and undermine global legitimacy. The organization has urged the international community to exert pressure on Israel, specifically targeting the United Nations Security Council, to halt the "killings, settlements, annexation, systematic terrorism, blockade and forcible displacement" currently plaguing the region.

The call for action comes amidst reports of recent violence in Qalqilya, where Israeli settler attacks resulted in damaged shops on January 21, 2025. Palestinians have been left to assess the aftermath of these acts of aggression.
