No Malaysians reported missing in Flores earthquake

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Flores Island in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province early today, causing about 2,000 residents to evacuate or flee to safety. The Malaysian embassy in Jakarta confirmed that no Malaysians have been reported affected by the natural disaster. The embassy monitored the situation closely and is in contact with the Indonesian foreign ministry for updates.

The earthquake's epicentre was 30km offshore from Mbay at a depth of 15km. Initially, a tsunami warning was issued, but it was later cancelled after monitoring sea levels. The National Disaster Management Agency reported 20 fatalities, including those injured in the earthquake and aftershocks, with two others still trapped in debris.
