Music star’s tour: Why 2026 Community Shield is holding in Cardiff, not Wembley

After The Weeknd's "After Hours Til Dawn" tour is set to perform at Wembley on the same day as the 2026 Community Shield between Arsenal and Manchester City, the prestigious match will be played at Cardiff's Principality Stadium. This marks the first time in 20 years that the Community Shield will return to the Welsh capital instead of its customary venue, Wembley Stadium.

The Premier League announced the switch due to The Weeknd's tour, making this the third Community Shield played away from Wembley since the stadium reopened in 2007. The fixture, previously held at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium/Principality Stadium from 2001 to 2006, will now take place at the Principality Stadium for the second time, joining Villa Park (2012), King Power Stadium (2022), and Wembley as venues that have hosted the match.
