Musiala worries overshadow Bayern's friendly win over Leipzig

Jamal Musiala's health concerns marred Bayern Munich's 3-1 friendly victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday. The Germany playmaker, who suffered a broken leg in July 2025 and has battled for fitness since, suddenly collapsed during the match. His teammates rushed to call for medical assistance, and a stretcher was swiftly deployed. As the Allianz Arena stood silent, the audience applauded in relief when Musiala managed to leave the field on foot, though he seemed disoriented.

Earlier in the game, Bayern celebrated the debut of new forward Ismael Saibari and a first goal for new defender Nathaniel Brown. The German double winners prepare to kick off their competitive season against the previous Bundesliga runners-up, Borussia Dortmund, in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup next Saturday. Luis Díaz opened the scoring in the first half, followed by a level goal from Brajan Gruda after the break.

Nathaniel Brown added a third goal in the 57th minute. Moroccian World Cup star Saibari, who transferred from PSV Eindhoven, made his first appearance for the star-studded Bayern side during the final 20 minutes, recovering from an injury. The 25-year-old received a yellow card but later assisted Musiala for the third goal. However, the match also saw other medical issues for Bayern.

Defender Konrad Laimer, who previously played for Leipzig, was injured after a hard challenge by David Raum. Center back Kim Min Jae appeared to be suffering from a knock when he was substituted after more than an hour of play. The game, still part of the arrangement that brought coach Julian Nagelsmann from Leipzig to Munich in 2021, took place in intense heat.
