Motac cracks down on unlicensed tourism operators in KL, issues 15 notices

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) conducted a two-day enforcement operation in Kuala Lumpur, issuing 15 inspection notices for violations under the Tourism Industry Act 1992 (Act 482). Nine of the notices were issued for operating a tourism business without a valid license, while the remaining six were for other offenses such as using unlicensed vehicles for tourist transport, breaching license conditions, and conducting business with unlicensed operators.

The inspections targeted three tourist locations, nine business premises, and three individuals. Motac collaborated with the Kuala Lumpur Tourist Guide Association (KLTGA) to identify individuals engaging in tourist guide activities without proper licenses. The ministry also warned unlicensed parties against offering tourism services, with penalties including fines up to RM500,000, imprisonment of up to 10 years, or both upon conviction.

Motac emphasized its commitment to enforcing the law thoroughly and encouraged the public and industry players to report any suspected violations through the Public Complaints Management System (SISPAA).
