Methu: Ruto cannot end goon culture with Murkomen in Cabinet

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Secretary General-designate Senator John Methu has criticized the government's tolerance of political goonism, asserting that President William Ruto cannot eradicate the issue while Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen remains in his administration. Methu made these remarks in Nakuru on August 15, 2026, following an attack on a DCP rally, which occurred as the party was conducting its grassroots mobilization tour in Nakuru County on August 14, 2026.

In a press conference, Methu also accused Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama of mobilizing individuals to disrupt the opening of a DCP office in the area. Methu pointedly linked his criticism to Murkomen, the Cabinet Secretary for Goons and Coordination of National Terror, stating that Ruto cannot end the goon culture while Murkomen remains in his Cabinet.

Methu argued that the alleged sponsorship of goons serves to create chaos and political instability, particularly in Nakuru County, where the DCP is currently active. He warned that such tactics would not deter the party from continuing its political activities or expanding its grassroots base. Methu directly addressed President Ruto, stating that goon usage would not prevent an anticipated political shift.

"The train has left the station; no goons will save you. You're going home," Methu said. His comments come amid intensified grassroots mobilization efforts across political parties ahead of the 2027 General Election, as the DCP seeks to establish a presence across the nation.

Despite the disruption caused by the attack, the DCP continued its planned activities in Nakuru County, using the tour to rally supporters and bolster its position ahead of the upcoming elections. Methu's remarks in Nakuru highlighted his concerns over the sponsorship of goons, warning that such actions could exacerbate political instability.
