Memorable Independence Day celebrations for students of govt. school at Kade Nandihalli in Shivamogga

This Independence Day will be particularly memorable for 12 students at the Government Higher Primary School in Kade Nandihalli, Shivamogga district. They received a helicopter ride over their village as part of the celebrations, thanks to the support of the Vishwagra Foundation. The foundation, a private organization, has been sponsoring guest teachers and providing study materials to the students.

Shivakumar A., the foundation's founder, explained that the 12 toppers in their studies were taken on the six to seven minute flights, with two rounds and six students per batch. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The School Development and Management Committee (SDMC), made up of alumni of the century-old school, has been working to improve the school's infrastructure with the help of donors.

They have hired five guest teachers in addition to the four government teachers and introduced pre-primary classes to boost enrollment. The school's enrollment has increased from 72 to 112 within a year due to the committee's efforts. The villagers invited the foundation to organize the Independence Day program, and the foundation arranged for the helicopter ride as part of the celebration. The SDMC and villagers also developed a helipad in the village for the event.
