Independence Day celebrations highlight progress, honour freedom fighters

Independence Day celebrations were observed with patriotic enthusiasm across Kurnool, Nandyal, and Anantapur districts on Saturday. District administrations, State and Central government institutions, and various organizations participated in the events. In Kurnool, Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath Gupta hoisted the national flag at the Police Parade Ground, followed by honoring the family members of freedom fighters with shawls and flower garlands.

The Minister also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by the ancestors and encouraging the public to embrace the ideals of the great leaders.

In Nandyal, Minority Welfare Minister N. Md. Farooq hoisted the national flag and paid tribute to leaders from the district who played a significant role in igniting the spirit of the freedom movement. He urged the public to work towards achieving progress in various sectors under the guidance of the District Collector Rajakumari Ganiya.

In Anantapur, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav hoisted the national flag and discussed the government's efforts to drive the district towards growth in various sectors. He highlighted the Super Six welfare schemes and development programs, aimed at creating thousands of job opportunities. Minister for Roads and Buildings B.C. Janardhan Reddy, who addressed the gathering in Kadapa, emphasized the district's target of reaching ₹13.26 lakh crore by 2047, focusing on the industrial, agricultural, and services sectors.

He praised the 'Smart Kitchen' project, which he believed could serve as a model for the entire nation. The tableau on 'Smart Kitchen' won the first prize in the event, followed by the Medical and Health department, DRDA, and Kadapa Municipal Corporation in second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
