LuLu’s India Utsav strengthens Qatar-India trade ties

LuLu Hypermarket launched "India Utsav 2026," a festival celebrating India's 80th Independence Day, in Doha, Qatar. The event was inaugurated by Sandeep Kumar, Chargé d’Affaires at the Indian Embassy in Qatar, and Dr Mohamed Althaf, Director and Chief Strategy Officer of LuLu Group. The festival, held at LuLu Hypermarket Al Gharafa, aimed to showcase India's rich culture, cuisine, traditions, and craftsmanship.

India Utsav went beyond being a retail festival, celebrating the diversity and vibrancy of India by offering shoppers a taste of its many regions, street food, traditions, art, and stories. Customers could enjoy special offers on Indian products, live hot-food counters, and traditional and contemporary Indian ethnic wear.

The festival also featured millets and millet-based bakery products, as well as freshly prepared Indian delicacies, including biryanis, curries, street snacks, and sweets. Qatar Post and India Post launched PosTransfer, a cross-border remittance service powered by India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

Sandeep Kumar emphasized the significance of India's 80th Independence Day, highlighting the nation's journey and its vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He also acknowledged LuLu Hypermarket's support in bringing the Indian community together in Qatar.

Dr Mohamed Althaf, LuLu Group Director, expressed his happiness in participating in India Utsav for the last 25 years and praised the strong, enduring relationship between the two countries. He further stated that India has become a leading food producer and exporter, maintaining stable prices and ensuring the smooth flow of essential products despite global challenges.
