Linda Mwananchi warned against organising their own security ahead of Homa Bay rally

Homa Bay County Commissioner Ronald Mwiwawi has cautioned politicians against organizing their own security for public events, warning that doing so could escalate tensions and lead to violence. At a press conference on Saturday, August 15, 2026, Mwiwawi stated that law enforcement agencies are responsible for ensuring security ahead of the Linda Mwananchi Movement rally scheduled for Sunday, August 16, 2026.

He questioned politicians who suggested they were preparing their own security teams, asking, "Prepared for what?" Mwiwawi also urged politicians to allow security personnel to handle matters of public safety during their events. The county administration has assured residents and organizers that adequate security measures have been implemented for the rally.

Mwiwawi appealed to young people attending the rally to remain peaceful and avoid confrontations. The warning comes as political activity increases in the county, with the Linda Mwananchi Movement mobilizing residents for the event. The rally's coordination team has pledged to hold a peaceful and orderly gathering after submitting a security request.

Organizer Clifford Obiero acknowledged the possibility of disruptions but expressed confidence in their ability to maintain peace. He assured residents that the rally would be a positive event.
