LG Twins acquire Australian pitcher Jon Kennedy

The LG Twins announced on Saturday that they have acquired Australian pitcher Jon Kennedy to bolster their pitching staff for the remainder of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) season. Kennedy signed for $20,000 and will replace Lachlan Wells, his fellow Australian teammate during the World Baseball Classic earlier this year.

At 31 years old, Kennedy primarily pitches in Australia but has also gained experience in the U.S. minor leagues, amassing a 10-10 record with a 3.09 ERA over 186 1/3 innings across 94 games. The Twins view Kennedy as a groundball pitcher who will strengthen their pitching rotation as they aim for their second consecutive Korean Series championship title.

Kennedy's eligibility for postseason play depends on the team's performance, with the deadline for KBO clubs to add foreign players to their active roster for postseason action set for August 15. Prior to Saturday's games, the Twins were situated in third place with a record of 57-47-1, and the top five teams are set to advance to the postseason.
