LG Twins acquire Australian pitcher Jon Kennedy

The LG Twins announced on Saturday the acquisition of Australian pitcher Jon Kennedy for their Asian quota player. Kennedy signed a deal worth $20,000 for the remainder of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) season. He replaces Lachlan Wells, who was also from Australia and had played together at this year's World Baseball Classic.

Kennedy, 31, primarily pitched in Australia, with four years of experience in the U.S. minor leagues, reaching Triple-A. During his time in the U.S., he achieved a 10-10 record, a 3.09 ERA, and pitched for 186 1/3 innings across 94 games. The Twins stated that Kennedy is a groundball pitcher who will enhance their pitching staff for the rest of the season, as they aim to win their second consecutive Korean Series title.

Kennedy will become eligible for postseason play if the Twins qualify, with the deadline for adding foreign players to the active roster to participate in the postseason being August 15. Prior to Saturday's games, the Twins were positioned third in the standings with a record of 57-47-1.
