Last embrace: Family mourns teacher killed in LPT2 crash

On the fateful morning, Fahimi Yaacob, a 41-year-old teacher, shook hands and embraced his family members, repeatedly apologizing. Mohd Zukri Yaacob, the elder brother, recalled those gestures as potentially indicating Fahimi's impending departure. The family was left to grapple with their loss, as they regarded Fahimi as a guiding presence and a source of help.

The news of his death reached Zukri at 10.15am while he was working at the Kuala Berang Health Clinic; police informed him that Fahimi was riding a motorcycle to Kuala Lumpur. Initially, Zukri was in disbelief, so he called Fahimi's wife to confirm. Upon learning that Fahimi was indeed on his way to Kuala Lumpur, Zukri felt a wave of foreboding, realizing that the accident victim was his youngest brother.

The deceased's remains arrived at 7pm and were taken to the village mosque for prayers. Over five hundred people attended the funeral, including Fahimi's four children and relatives. The family was particularly touched by Fahimi's unusual behavior during a family thanksgiving gathering a few days prior. Usually the life of the event, organizing family gatherings with his characteristic energy, Fahimi instead sat at the back, seemingly tired from organizing a student camping program.

After the gathering, he shook hands, hugged his mother and siblings, and repeatedly apologized—what seemed to be a final farewell. Zukri described Fahimi as a deeply beloved family member, always ready to lend a helping hand whenever a family matter arose. The youngest of their four children, Nur Adra Delisha, who was only four at the time, was closest to her father and is struggling with the loss, constantly crying.

Despite their grief, the family accepted Fahimi's death as a will of God, believing that Allah loved him more and that there was wisdom behind this tragic event.
