Kenya sends off National motorcross team to Africa’s MX Championship

The Motorcycle Sports Federation of Kenya officially welcomed Team Kenya prior to the FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations (MXoAN) 2026 on Saturday. The squad, consisting of 24 riders and 7 officials, will compete in Windhoek, Namibia from August 28th to 30th, 2026 at Gallina Motocross Park. This marks Kenya's official entry into Africa's premier national team motocross championship, a FIM Africa-sanctioned event.

The riders, ranging from the MX 50 class to veterans in MX 1 and the Veterans category, are accompanied by a seven-strong technical delegation led by Team Manager Eric Ngure, Deputy Team Manager Shanna Kandie, Coach Walter Kuria, and Team Doctor Dr. Njooro Karanja. MSFK President Renzo Bernardi expressed pride in the team's accomplishments, emphasizing their selection through competition and the full support of the MSFK and the Government of Kenya.

The MXoAN 2026 holds particular importance for Kenyan motorsport, as performance at this championship will influence the selection of riders for Africa's Motocross of Nations in France and the WMX Cup in Australia, two premier world team events. The team's journey to Namibia will cover around 5,500 kilometers via road, departing Nairobi on August 15th, 2026, with the team's return flight scheduled for August 26th.
