Karua accuses Ruto of double standards after Gachagua’s Nakuru attack

Martha Karua has leveled accusations of double standards against President William Ruto's administration, following an attack on Gachagua's supporters in Nakuru. Gachagua's rally had drawn a sizable crowd before being disrupted by a group of assailants. "My brother Gachagua was in Nakuru all along," Karua remarked. "It was a beautiful rally, with people excitedly gathering. Suddenly, goons arrived, blocked the road, and attacked the crowd."

Karua questioned whether such violent tactics reflected the kind of Kenya citizens desired, warning against what she called "violent politics." "Is this the Kenya we want?" Karua asked. "You politicians, step down and become Sugoi. People don't want violent campaigns and we won't tolerate it... If Kenyans have been violent, then you are the cause, not us. Kenyans do not instigate violence in Kenya, and we will not allow it."

The former Justice Minister also highlighted the 2007-08 post-election violence and Ruto's ICC case at The Hague. Karua argued that Ruto's case was not dismissed due to a lack of evidence, claiming that witnesses had died, been relocated, or gone into hiding. "You were once accused of being part of the 2007 violence, and you were sent to The Hague.

Your case is not based on insufficient evidence, but on evidence that differs from others. You are the only one who can explain why. And you will return to The Hague," Karua stated.

Karua then accused Ruto of involving individuals linked to Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Kenya, likening them to the Janjaweed militia responsible for atrocities in Darfur. "But now we warn you about bringing people from Sudan," Karua stated. "They are people known as RSF, also known as Janjaweed, who come to cause political unrest in Kenya." She further claimed that these individuals were being brought into the country to incite political unrest.
