Jaxson Dart Gets Honest About Concussion Tests After Giants' Preseason Loss

The New York Giants started their preseason with a 13-10 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings, as three Giants quarterbacks saw action on the field. Jaxson Dart, the starting quarterback, played a limited role in the first half and left to the medical tent after being sacked. Post-evaluation, he returned to the game, sealing a 15-yard touchdown pass to Malachi Fields.

Dart finished his time on the field with three completions out of four attempts for 26 yards, including that one touchdown. He faced two sacks during his brief appearance and shared his thoughts on the postgame press conference. Dart expressed his respect for the NFL's medical protocol while being puzzled by his frequent visits to the blue tent.

Vikings safety Jay Ward hit Dart near the end of the first quarter, and he was also sacked by Vikings linebacker Dallas Turner earlier in the quarter. Despite these setbacks, Dart praised his team's effort when he was on the field. Backup quarterbacks Brandon Allen and Jameis Winston also got some playing time for the Giants. Winston completed 8 of 9 passes for 89 yards, while Allen passed for 89 yards and intercepted twice.

The Giants' decision to send Dart to the medical tent for assessments is understandable, as he's the team's QB1, and the regular season starts in less than a month. Known for his running ability, Dart has been criticized for playing aggressively, often absorbing hard contact while rushing. During his rookie season, he appeared in 14 games, starting 12 and was sent to the medical tent multiple times, including after a concussion in Week 10 against the Chicago Bears.

The Giants' next preseason game is on Saturday, Aug. 22, against the Miami Dolphins, with their regular season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Sept. 13.
