Iran says talks with Oman have made progress in recent weeks

Iran's foreign ministry has announced recent progress in talks with Oman, according to a report. The ministry highlighted that for normal shipping to resume in the Strait of Hormuz, the US must cease its measures, threats, and the maritime blockade. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi clarified that the discussions are centered on navigation routes in the Strait of Hormuz, but emphasized that Iran's conditions for shipping resumption must be met by the United States.

Araqchi also mentioned that Qatar and Pakistan are engaging in communications with Tehran, but these exchanges do not constitute negotiations. Despite these negotiations, Iran's actions against vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz continue to be perceived as a serious threat, as Tehran aims to assert control over the strait and has imposed conditions such as the payment of transit fees. The US has firmly rejected these proposals during the indirect negotiations.
