Civil Affairs clarifies rules for keeping old ID documents

The Saudi Civil Affairs Agency has issued a clarification stating that citizens may retain their old ID cards and family records after replacement, as long as they are perforated to prevent any misuse. According to a statement released on X, both male and female citizens are permitted to keep their old documents, including national ID cards and family records, following their replacement. The agency emphasized that these documents should be perforated to ensure they cannot be used again.

Furthermore, the Civil Affairs Agency detailed the various national ID card services accessible through the Absher app. These services facilitate the renewal of a national ID card, the request for a replacement for a lost card, or the replacement of a damaged card, all without the necessity of visiting Civil Affairs offices in person. To utilize these services, users must log into the Absher app, select "My Services," choose "Civil Affairs," and then proceed to "National ID services" and their specific requirement.
