‘If I ever meet her’ – Enes Kanter makes feelings known on Sophie Cunningham’s trans stance

Former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom has expressed his admiration for WNBA player Sophie Cunningham, despite their differing views on transgender athletes. Cunningham sparked controversy in the women's basketball league after defending her stance on protecting biological women and maintaining fairness in female athletics. Kanter's support for Cunningham, however, did not waver, even amidst the backlash and media attention surrounding the issue.

The Indiana guard remains proud of her comments, labeling her a "role model" in an interview with the America First Policy Institute. Kanter stated, "When she posted ‘I said what I said’, I was like this is the player I want to be like one day. She’s becoming a role model off the court as well — she’s pushing people to think." Yet, Kanter added with a playful twist, "But hey, if I ever meet her down the line I’m dunking on her as well, I know she’s a top girl and she’s going to try get under my skin, but I’m taking off on anyone.

I don’t care who you are." While it seems unlikely that Kanter and Cunningham will cross paths, it appears that Kanter might be softening his stance on the matter.
