I lost my sight, but not my dreams — Theatre Arts graduate

Comfort Ekwo, a theatre arts graduate, lost her sight at the age of eight but remains undeterred by her condition. She identifies as a person with low vision, as she can still perceive light and certain objects. Ekwo attended the University of Jos and later enrolled in a school for the blind in Abuja, where she learned Braille and adapted to life with limited vision.

Despite facing challenges and discrimination in her early years, Ekwo persevered and went on to start a rehabilitation centre for visually impaired individuals, teaching them how to live independently. She has also worked remotely for a magazine and appeared on TikTok, where her viral post faced skepticism due to assumptions about her abilities.

Ekwo emphasizes that blindness does not hinder one's capacity to lead a fulfilling life and challenges societal perceptions of visual impairment.
