Hanur shoot-out: MLC K. Shivakumar seeks high-level probe

Member of Legislative Council K. Shivakumar called for a high-level inquiry into the deaths of three individuals in a shoot-out involving Forest Department personnel in Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagar district's Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary. The incident has caused public outrage and raised doubts among the families of the deceased, according to Shivakumar.

He demanded immediate suspension of the Range Forest Officer and Hanur taluk patrolling staff pending an investigation. Shivakumar described the deaths as unfortunate and urged the government to provide compensation to the victims' families without delay. He highlighted conflicting accounts of the incident, with locals and Forest Department officials providing different versions.

Shivakumar called for a comprehensive investigation to establish the facts and bring the truth to light, urging the Human Rights Commission to take up the case and initiate action against officials found responsible.
