Hackers target DHQ social media account

The Defence Headquarters has revealed that its official X social media account has been targeted in an attempted unauthorized access. Director of Defence Information, Maj Gen Samaila Uba disclosed this in a statement on Saturday. The incident is currently being handled as a cybersecurity matter, and technical measures have been put in place to safeguard the account against further unauthorized access.

The DHQ is actively working towards regaining full control of the official account and is cautioning the public to ignore any suspicious, unauthorized, or misleading content that might be posted from the account during this period. The Defence Headquarters emphasizes its commitment to upholding high standards of information security and ensuring Nigerians receive accurate, timely, and credible information about the activities and operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

They urge the public to rely on its verified accounts on other platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, for uninterrupted communication.
