Gachagua vows to unseat Kihika in 2027 after Nakuru DCP convoy attack

Democratic Change Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has announced plans to intensify his political activities in Nakuru following an attack on his convoy during a tour of the county on August 14, 2026. Speaking on the following day, Gachagua accused Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama of orchestrating the incident, claiming that his convoy was pelted with stones and attacked with axes and other crude weapons.

Gachagua also questioned the actions of police officers, alleging they failed to intervene during the attack. Despite the assault, Gachagua vowed not to be intimidated and pledged to increase his presence in Nakuru, citing the county's large voting population. The former Deputy President further hinted at his intention to challenge Kihika in the 2027 gubernatorial election, accusing her of being a political liability.

This incident has further heightened political tensions in Nakuru as parties gear up for the upcoming 2027 general election.
