Funds sanctioned for re-tendered stretches in Kollam under PMGSY

Kollam MP N.K. Premachandran has urged close monitoring and expedited completion of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) road projects in the district, lamenting that ongoing delays are causing undue inconvenience to residents. During a joint review with the District Collector, the MP stressed the importance of simultaneously ensuring high-quality construction alongside timely completion.

The assessment focused on progress in Anchal block, highlighting finished segments as well as technical challenges. While certain stretches have been successfully built and tarred, works on the Asuramangalam-Kombettimala-Thittikkara-Ayathil-Madhurappa-Gurumandiram road hit a snag when re-tendering using current methods was deemed impractical.

Consequently, a revised estimate accounting for updated specifications added ₹25,84,611.03 to the project cost, awaiting approval from the State government. In Chadayamangalam block, several initiatives are nearing completion, with officials affirming the finishing of G2 works on multiple segments. Meanwhile, re-tendering the Manjappara-Kundayyam Pulimoodu-Akkonom–Keezthoni-Anappara-Mukkada-Palam road introduced a new financial burden of ₹30 lakh.

The MP confirmed that these supplementary funds have been sanctioned by the State government, with the final execution procedures underway to finalize the project.
