Former Arsenal keeper Jimmy Rimmer dies

Jimmy Rimmer, the former Arsenal goalkeeper and England international, has passed away at the age of 78. Rimmer, who spent much of his career at Old Trafford with Manchester United, joined Arsenal in April 1974 for £40,000. He quickly became the team's first-choice goalkeeper under manager Bertie Mee, eventually replacing Bob Wilson as the club's number one.

Rimmer made 146 appearances for Arsenal and was voted Player of the Year in 1975. He also earned a single cap for England during his time at Arsenal, coming on as a substitute in a 3-2 victory over Italy in New York in May 1976. After leaving Arsenal in 1977 for Aston Villa, Rimmer helped the club win the First Division title in 1980-81 and secure a European Cup medal in 1982, making him the only English player to have won a European Cup with both Manchester United and Aston Villa. Arsenal expressed their condolences to Rimmer's family and loved ones.
